Ramadan evenings kick off in downtown

AMMAN —  Ramadan evenings kicked off in downtown Amman on Monday with the participation of a number of Islamic troupes from all over the world.

The event is held as a celebration for Amman’s selection as the Islamic cultural capital, Greater Amman Municipality’s (GAM) Culture Executive Director Samer Khair Ahmed said.

“This event is held as part of GAM’s efforts to provide Amman’s residents and visitors with cultural and Islamic shows. These events are also held as part of GAM’s steps to boost the cultural activities during the holy month of Ramadan,” he told The Jordan Times.

The GAM official said the event is held by the municipality, adding that the activities will focus on the Islamic Inishad (singing) and Sufi performances. al balad downtown amman 2
